sorority semiformal makeup look

Hey y’all! This is a very exciting post for me because it’s my first makeup tutorial! YAY!!

The girl pictured below is my friend, Mallory. I was fortunate enough to do her makeup for Phi Lamb Semiformal last Friday. I had an absolute blast fixing her up and wanted to share!

Since Mallory and I do not have the same skin type or color, I decided to use a mixture of her products and mine. I used her foundation, bronzer, and Naked palette. The rest are from my collection.

After applying moisturizer and some of her Mary Kay Eye Primer, I did her eyeshadow first to prevent any fallout from ruining the rest of her face.

I started out using the Naked 2 palette with the shade Bootycall on her lid and in the crease, then I blended Tease in the outer corner to the middle of her lid and crease, and Suspect on the outer corner. I wanted to pull in a little bit of purple to make her eyes pop, so I blended in Estée Lauder Provocative Plum into the outer corner and crease. After applying a light amount of purple, I went back to the Naked 2 palette and used Verve in the inner corner and under the brows to finish the shadow.

I then used Amy Head Creme Liner in Pearl in a pretty dramatic wing. I finished her eyes with two coats of Maybelline Turbo Volum’ Express mascara in very black!

Since her brows are basically perfect and don’t need to be filled in, I went over them with Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel to keep them in place.  After doing her eyes, I applied her Mary Kay luminous-wear liquid foundation. I put a dab of product on her forehead, nose, under her eyes, cheeks, and chin and blended it out over the rest of her face to create a flawless finish. She’s not a fan of full coverage, thick foundation so I kept it light.

It is so important to talk to your client throughout to make sure everything is how they feel comfortable. A lot of MUA’s don’t do this, but it’s something I never fail to. No matter your preference, they have to wear it.  Hence, the light foundation applied.

After that, I used Mary Kay mineral powder foundation as a bronzer/contour, shading on her forehead, cheekbones, and under the chin. Then, I applied a light amount of NARS blush to the apples of the cheeks, blending upward to the top of her cheeks.

Finally, I took an Amy Head powder brush with excess powder from before and lightly swept it over her face, avoiding her eyes, to create a smoother finish.

For highlight, I used Becca + Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop, on the apples of the cheeks, middle of her forehead, down the nose, and lightly on her Cupid’s bow.

Mallory wanted a deep lip so we used Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Iris! I love how the red lip makes the look a little bolder, bringing her a little out of her comfort zone.
