More Morphe | 2017

A few months ago, I made a small Morphe purchase. These products have changed my life forever. Whereas, before this last buy, I was on the fence about the brand. I wasn’t convinced they were as good as everyone said. Funny how one purchase can change how you feel about an entire brand…

The sole reason I bought anything from Morphe, was to test out their Flawless Beauty Sponge. Let me tell you, this thing lives up to all the hype. I went from hating the Tarte Shapetape Concealer (using the Real Techniques Sponge) to it being my holy grail when using this sponge. It’s just too good! I actually cannot imagine using any other brand’s sponges, now.

IMG_0528Since this was so good, I will definitely be trying out their Highlight & Contour Sponge next!

The second thing I wanted to purchase was the M433 Pro Firm Blending Fluff. This is, by far, my absolute favorite blending brush ever!! Makes my life so much easier. I don’t go anywhere without this brush. I feel the need to buy like 47 more….

M433, Y10, and M432.

Now I have the Morphe Y10 Mini Detail Contour brush. I first heard about this thing from Jaclyn Hill. I started off using it as a foundation brush, but have since only been using it for contouring. It’s definitely a great, little brush that I am glad to have added to my collection!

Lastly, I have the Morphe M432 Flat Liner Definer. This is a great brush to get product as close to your lower lash line as possible. So easy to use, my (not so) new go-to.

That’s all I have for this short little haul! Have you purchased these brushes?? What are your thoughts on Morphe? Let me know in the comments below!

Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlight| 2017

Disclaimer: I was one of the lucky people to receive the Marc Jacob Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlight complementary of Influenster and Marc Jacobs Beauty for reviewing purposes. My opinion is 100% my own and is not swayed in any way, simply because it was free.

IMG_0121

When I first started using this product, I really enjoyed it. It was a great product, and I began using it pretty consistently, especially on nights out. It is a beautiful peachy-golden shade that would, in my opinion, be great on just about any skin tone, and it was definitely the perfect blinding highlighter!

After about a week of usage, I started noticing the product would break up my foundation to the point where, when I put it on, the foundation would completely come off of the areas I applied it.

I tried to give it several other chances with different application techniques (and different foundations), but ultimately decided this product just wasn’t for me, and stopped using it altogether.

I really do not want to discard such a high-end product, but it has really not worked for me since the first few times. Even after applying swatches on the back of my hand for these pictures, I noticed it starting to ball up and get super thick and patchy, no matter how little product I used.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I may end up trying it again as shoulder or collarbone highlight, or maybe even on my summer no-makeup days, because I really do hate to waste it. Ugh, it’s just so pretty, I hate that it doesn’t work with foundation!

Please let me know in the comments below if you have tried the Coconut Gel Highlighter out, and if it worked for you or not!

What I got for Christmas 2016.

Yes, I know this is super late. Yes, I know people have moved on from Christmas and are gearing back up for school and taking on this new year. However, I still wanted to show you guys the latest additions to my collection!

Sephora Brand Avocado Facial Mask.I used this mask right away and I really loved it! I woke up the next day with a more clear complexion. Sephora has really great masks and I definitely recommend this one!

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème in the shade Light 3.This is my absolute FAVORITE CONCEALER right now and I am so thankful to have been able to add it to my collection!

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Lip Glosses.

From left to right: Moonglow, Love Drunk, Hey You.

I had never used Marc Jacobs Beauty before Christmas and these have definitely become some of my new favorite glosses!

Marc Jacobs Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon.

From top to bottom: (Big) Eyes!, Blacquer(Berry), (Cinder)Ella.

I had actually run out of all but black eyeliner, so I am really excited I got these! I have tried BlacquerBerry on my upper lid and it transferred really bad, so I definitely recommend using these on the lower lash line and waterline! I am going to give it another chance with maybe a different shade and see if they just do that, or if it was a one time thing.

Marc Jacobs The Bronze- Bronzer Brush No. 12.I am absolutely OBSESSED with this brush! It is so soft and fluffy and just… OMG. It’s amazing. It is super pricey, so if you’re looking for a great bronzer brush to splurge on, this is your guy!

Marc Jacobs Object of Desire Face and Eye Palette.LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about this palette! Such amazing formula and pigmentation! The blush and highlight are so BOMB. The shadows don’t give much room for various looks without other palettes, but still a great addition to my collection!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette.I just want to shout out my super sweet cousin, Darden, for giving me this palette!! It was so unnecessary and I do not deserve you doing this, but THANK YOU SO MUCH!! This is the only palette I’ve used since Christmas and I am in LOVE with it.

Now. Last but not least…..

Canon Rebel T6i Camera!!!I am so so SO excited about this, it isn’t even funny. We’re going to be taking this thing to the next level! Thank you, Dad!!

Part of the reason it took me so long to get this post up is because I’m still learning how to use my camera, edit, and all of that fun stuff.. I am kind of getting the hang of it, but please bear with me!

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed! Feel free to leave a comment down below if you have any of these products, or tell me what you got for Christmas!

Christmas Glam • Kylie Edition | 2016

Hey guys! I ran a poll on Twitter to see what Christmas look y’all wanted done this year…. and shockingly (not), glam won! If you want to have your say in future posts, please go to @beautybreakbets and click that follow button! We have already hit over 90 followers there and I am so thankful!!

For the sake of the post, I decided I would start with all of my face makeup and eyebrows done, so we could just focus on the eyes…

img_8320
Primer: Kat Von D Lock-It Hydrating Primer. Foundation: IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream in the shade fairConcealer: Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. Setting powder: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. Brows: ABH Brow Wiz and Clear Brow Gel. Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil in Medium/dark. Blush: Amy Head Fresh & Lovely. Highlight: Becca Opal.

I just wanted to insert this picture to show you guys what shades I will be using from the Holiday Palette, for those of you who don’t want to continue reading!

First things first, I went in with Makeup Geek Beaches and Cream and Creme Brulee for my transition shade. Then, I used a fluffy Estee Lauder blending brush and went in with the shade Chestnut in my crease and outer corner. It is such a beautiful shadow that has found it’s way into my top favorite shadows!fullsizeoutput_3012Next, I took my Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Brush and applied the shade Frosty, which is that silvery color, all over my lid. I did end up doing a second layer using eyedrops to make it just a tad more intense… You could probably get away without it, since it does have a ton of pigment, but why not be extra at Christmas?!

After I applied the silver on my lid, I decided that it needed a darker color on the outer corner, because it just wasn’t popping like I wanted it to… So, I added this beautiful deep matte purple, Silent Night, and blended it into my outer corner and crease! I, personally, wanted to stay in the purple family, but a good black could be so awesome as well! (The first time I did this look was actually with Makeup Geek Corrupt instead. Follow this link to find it!)

I also put a little bit of Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma to the corner of my eye and under the brow bone!

fullsizeoutput_316c
From there, I used my Maybelline Blackest Black Gel Liner to add a small wing.

After that, I curled my lashes and applied the Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer and then the Perversion Mascara!

To top off the look, I applied my Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Bow and Arrow! I absolutely love, love, LOVE this lip color– it is so great for winter/fall!

img_8328And here is the finished look! I am so happy with the way it came out. It doesn’t show up as great in this picture- stupid iPhone… It was so much more vibrant in real life!

I hope you guys enjoyed this Christmas tutorial and that it sparked some inspiration for your festivities!

Current Obsessions | 2016

Hey y’all! Before we jump into things, I am excited to announce I finally have the Twitter page for OhMyMakeupObsession up and running as of last night!! If you would like to keep up with my posts, please go follow @ohmymakeups as I will have updates and posts easily accessible from there! I could not be more thrilled to have made this step!

Also, I will no longer be doing “monthly favorites” like the rest of the Blog and YouTube world. Friday, I had a late night thought and decided “current obsessions” made just a little bit more sense on this blog. So, I hope you enjoy these new changes as much as I do!

All of that being said, let’s get into my first Current Obsessions post!

IMG_6778There are two products from MAC that I have been loving the past few months. These are among my very first purchase at MAC and I don’t know why I wasn’t forced to try this magic before…..

My current foundation obsession is the MAC Studio Fix Fluid in the shade NC15. It’s a matte finish foundation with build-able, medium coverage. I suggest applying this with the Morphe M439 brush (or your favorite foundation brush), and going back over the face with a damp Beauty Blender to achieve a more flawless finish. It does have a strong scent while applying, but goes unnoticed after application. This is just my favorite!

IMG_6794My second MAC obsession is the MAC Bronzing Powder in the shade Matte Bronze. This is a beautiful bronzer with amazing pigment. The only “negative” thing for me is I have actually gotten a little too pale for this shade at the moment and it can get a tad orange if I’m not careful. So, if you are very fair, this is probably not the shade for you. It is still a beautiful product that I have hit pan on in the short amount of time I have used it!

The third product should really be no surprise… This is the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Split Pan in the shades Prosecco Pop//Amaretto. Now… I know you probably expect me to “oooh” and “aaah” over Prosecco Pop, and YES it is so bomb. BUT…. Can we talk about Amaretto for a minute? UM HELLO. It’s as if Becca and Jaclyn were thinking of me when they made this product. Pure perfection. I’m not even gonna lie, I was tempted to buy like seven more just because my obsession is so real. Can we PLEAASE make this permanent guys!?

IMG_6797Next, I have the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I had heard such great things from many different people about this primer, so in one of my hauls I decided it was time to try it out. I have really loved using this product, and it is definitely a re-buy for me. The only complaint I have is the applicator being a little small which makes getting product out a slower process. But this may be just me, because we all know I am the most impatient person in the world when it comes to… everything. Okay, moving on…

IMG_6790My final obsession for this month is a gloss I have been wearing as much as humanly possible this summer. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in the shade Rio. I just want to say this is my absolute favorite gloss to date. It smells like birthday cake and that alone is enough to make me want to eat, I mean, wear it…. It is pretty sticky, but I like that in a gloss as it stays on longer than some of my other high end glosses. Ugh, the pigment. The shade. The smell. It’s perfection!

Okay, guys! That’s all I have for this post. I hope you all enjoyed reading! Please like, comment, and subscribe if you haven’t already! Don’t forget to follow OhMyMakeupObsession’s New Twitter and BlogLovin’,  and my personal Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest!

GlamGlow ThirstyMud First Impression | 2016

Hey guys! My skin has been superrr dry lately and everything I have tried has only been making it worse. The other night, I decided to try out the GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment to see if it would make any difference. Keep reading for my first impression of this mask!

I have combination/oily/sensitive skin, so I’m really not used to being dried out (unless I’m changing up my skincare). I received a sample of ThirstyMud in either a Sephora or GlamGlow purchase a few weeks back and decided what the heck? Nothing else was working and I NEEDED something to fix this problem and fast. That flakey, cakey skin look is just not cute…

You can leave this mask on for as long as you want. But, I had heard that you get the best results when worn overnight, so that’s what I decided to do! Around 11:35 p.m. last Monday, I decided I would give it a shot and put an even layer all over my face and left it on until about 4:30 a.m. when I decided I could not sleep with it on because my face was just sticking to everything and it’s mother… I knew this would happen, especially because I sleep on my stomach/sides, for the most part. So, I tried to force myself to sleep on my back… Unfortunately, that so did not work. When I looked at the clock and saw I had to be up in 2 hours to get ready for class, I decided to go ahead and remove it where I would hopefully fall asleep.. That was just my problem, it’s not uncomfortable by any means.. I’m just a really heavy sleeper.

I took the mask off with warm water and a washcloth and put on Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil Light all over my face to hopefully add to the hydration I’d been craving.. I was really pleasantly surprised when I woke up, washed my face, and put on foundation, that my face was no longer dry and flakey! My face felt very hydrated and refreshed after using it for just five short hours! I could not be happier with the results and will definitely be buying this mask ASAP. It seriously just changed my life!

What is your favorite face mask? I’m always wanting to try new ones, so let me know in the comments below!

Well, guys, that’s it for this First Impressions post! I hope you all enjoyed reading. Please like, comment and subscribe if you haven’t already! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and BlogLovin’!

Summer Empties + Reviews | 2016

Hey everyone! I know… you’re probably thinking, “well look what the cat dragged in.” Yes, I realize it has been an INSANE amount of time since I last posted.. Yes, I also realize my priorities have been ALL jacked up. For both of those things, I am truly sorry. However, I am working on getting my ducks back in a row, so I hope you guys can forgive me!

With it being my first post back, I thought it would be appropriate to make it my summer empties to show you guys what I’ve been into lately (and so I can throw away these empty bottles and move on.. shh). So, without further ado….

The first thing on my list of empties is the Philosophy Purity One-Step Facial Cleanser. I have really enjoyed this cleanser, but it honestly took me over half of the bottle to really get the hang of using it… I know, silly me, but seriously… It took me a while. Mainly because I am used to a more intense cleanser and this one I really have to work it into my skin to get it to remove all of my makeup. Still, it’s a great product and I’m already well into my second bottle!

My next skincare empty is the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. I also really enjoyed using this product. I have not repurchased it, and don’t plan on it for a few months, solely because I have recently changed up my skincare routine and have no use for it at this particular moment. I used a pea size amount every morning just to get off whatever might not have the night before and start my day with a clean face. It did tend to make my face burn a TINY amount here and there, but that’s because my skin is SUPER sensitive to cleansers and it freaks out sometimes… okay, a lot of times. Beside the point….

Now, I have the Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel. I personally do not 100% LOVE this cleanser. It gets the job done, but I feel like I had to use a whole lot more product than necessary to really get my face clean. For that one reason, I will probably not be buying this again in the future…

Next is the Estée Lauder Soft Clean Tender Creme Cleanser. I hate doing negative reviews, but this product is just….not my favorite, to say the least. It is for dry skin, and I’m combination/sensitive/oily on a bad day, so that could be part of the reason I do NOT like this. My face felt like it was on fire every time I used it. I had the small size (I actually think it’s a sample I stole from my mom), so I used the whole bottle while waiting on the others to be shipped to my house.

Now, I have Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub. Out of the drugstore scrubs I have tried, this one is probably the one I will go back to. I really notice a change in the brightness of my skin when I use this product. It can dry me out a little bit, but having the complicated skin that I have, I’m not really mad about that. Two thumbs up for Neutrogena!

My last skincare product is the Mario Badescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion. I struggle when it comes to cleansing lotions because most tend to break me out more than help cleanse my face. This is the only one I have tried that does not have that effect on me. I just really love the Mario skincare line! I always feel so refreshed and clean when using it. Holy grail for sure!

Next, I have the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. As I have said before, this is my HOLY GRAIL CONCEALER!! That’s all I really have to say about that. Except the fact that I need to get off my lazy behind and get a shade lighter cause ya girl has gotten PALE!!

Now, I have the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. I seriously don’t know what I would do without this stuff. Ever accidentally spent the night somewhere you didn’t plan on staying and didn’t have your makeup remover with you? Yeah…. I actually woke up the next day with my face looking the same as the night before. Pretty sure this stuff is magic.

And my last makeup empty is the Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer. This thing lasted me over a year and I am still obsessed with it. It is the first primer I have ever used and the one I keep going back to (mainly because drugstore ones make my skin freak out..shocker). However, I just purchased a Make Up Forever primer (that I will be talking about in my next post) so we will see if this stays my number one!

Okay, I want to share with you guys two of my favorite hair products, just because I CANNOT live without either one and go through them like crazy. So, if you’re interested in these last two products, please keep reading!

First, I have the TRESemmeé Platinum Strength– Strengthening Heat Protect Spray. I spray this all over the ends of my hair before every time I dry it to prevent heat damage. I really believe if I didn’t, my hair would be completely and totally FRIED. I don’t know how much it has helped on the “strengthening” part because my hair sheds…a lot… but it definitely has helped it not be gross from all of the heat I put on it daily.

And lastly, I have the Bed Head Hard Head Hairspray. I have tried every single hairspray you can imagine, and haven’t found one that tops this. I use it every single day, multiple times a day, because it is the only thing that can keep my head even looking halfway the way I would like it to. It’s literally like superglue….or maybe I just use the whole can on my head… Who really knows? The point is, FAVE HAIRSPRAY IN THE WORLD. If it can withstand almost every southern state’s humidity… we’re golden.

Well guys, that’s it for today/tonight’s post! I hope you all enjoyed reading this and aren’t too irritated with my leave of absence. I am so happy to finally be back and getting into a regular routine!

I will now be posting PERMANENTLY on Sunday’s! So get excited and be on the lookout for new posts!

Thank you so much for reading! Please like, comment and subscribe if you haven’t already! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and BlogLovin’!
