Current Obsessions | 2016

Hey y’all! Before we jump into things, I am excited to announce I finally have the Twitter page for OhMyMakeupObsession up and running as of last night!! If you would like to keep up with my posts, please go follow @ohmymakeups as I will have updates and posts easily accessible from there! I could not be more thrilled to have made this step!

Also, I will no longer be doing “monthly favorites” like the rest of the Blog and YouTube world. Friday, I had a late night thought and decided “current obsessions” made just a little bit more sense on this blog. So, I hope you enjoy these new changes as much as I do!

All of that being said, let’s get into my first Current Obsessions post!

IMG_6778There are two products from MAC that I have been loving the past few months. These are among my very first purchase at MAC and I don’t know why I wasn’t forced to try this magic before…..

My current foundation obsession is the MAC Studio Fix Fluid in the shade NC15. It’s a matte finish foundation with build-able, medium coverage. I suggest applying this with the Morphe M439 brush (or your favorite foundation brush), and going back over the face with a damp Beauty Blender to achieve a more flawless finish. It does have a strong scent while applying, but goes unnoticed after application. This is just my favorite!

IMG_6794My second MAC obsession is the MAC Bronzing Powder in the shade Matte Bronze. This is a beautiful bronzer with amazing pigment. The only “negative” thing for me is I have actually gotten a little too pale for this shade at the moment and it can get a tad orange if I’m not careful. So, if you are very fair, this is probably not the shade for you. It is still a beautiful product that I have hit pan on in the short amount of time I have used it!

The third product should really be no surprise… This is the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Split Pan in the shades Prosecco Pop//Amaretto. Now… I know you probably expect me to “oooh” and “aaah” over Prosecco Pop, and YES it is so bomb. BUT…. Can we talk about Amaretto for a minute? UM HELLO. It’s as if Becca and Jaclyn were thinking of me when they made this product. Pure perfection. I’m not even gonna lie, I was tempted to buy like seven more just because my obsession is so real. Can we PLEAASE make this permanent guys!?

IMG_6797Next, I have the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. I had heard such great things from many different people about this primer, so in one of my hauls I decided it was time to try it out. I have really loved using this product, and it is definitely a re-buy for me. The only complaint I have is the applicator being a little small which makes getting product out a slower process. But this may be just me, because we all know I am the most impatient person in the world when it comes to… everything. Okay, moving on…

IMG_6790My final obsession for this month is a gloss I have been wearing as much as humanly possible this summer. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in the shade Rio. I just want to say this is my absolute favorite gloss to date. It smells like birthday cake and that alone is enough to make me want to eat, I mean, wear it…. It is pretty sticky, but I like that in a gloss as it stays on longer than some of my other high end glosses. Ugh, the pigment. The shade. The smell. It’s perfection!

GlamGlow ThirstyMud First Impression | 2016

Hey guys! My skin has been superrr dry lately and everything I have tried has only been making it worse. The other night, I decided to try out the GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment to see if it would make any difference. Keep reading for my first impression of this mask!

I have combination/oily/sensitive skin, so I’m really not used to being dried out (unless I’m changing up my skincare). I received a sample of ThirstyMud in either a Sephora or GlamGlow purchase a few weeks back and decided what the heck? Nothing else was working and I NEEDED something to fix this problem and fast. That flakey, cakey skin look is just not cute…

You can leave this mask on for as long as you want. But, I had heard that you get the best results when worn overnight, so that’s what I decided to do! Around 11:35 p.m. last Monday, I decided I would give it a shot and put an even layer all over my face and left it on until about 4:30 a.m. when I decided I could not sleep with it on because my face was just sticking to everything and it’s mother… I knew this would happen, especially because I sleep on my stomach/sides, for the most part. So, I tried to force myself to sleep on my back… Unfortunately, that so did not work. When I looked at the clock and saw I had to be up in 2 hours to get ready for class, I decided to go ahead and remove it where I would hopefully fall asleep.. That was just my problem, it’s not uncomfortable by any means.. I’m just a really heavy sleeper.

I took the mask off with warm water and a washcloth and put on Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil Light all over my face to hopefully add to the hydration I’d been craving.. I was really pleasantly surprised when I woke up, washed my face, and put on foundation, that my face was no longer dry and flakey! My face felt very hydrated and refreshed after using it for just five short hours! I could not be happier with the results and will definitely be buying this mask ASAP. It seriously just changed my life!

What is your favorite face mask? I’m always wanting to try new ones, so let me know in the comments below!

Well, guys, that’s it for this First Impressions post! I hope you all enjoyed reading. Please like, comment and subscribe if you haven’t already! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and BlogLovin’!

January Favorites | 2016

Hey Hey! I am so sorry I have been MIA this week.. it was my Big’s and my 21st birthday this week, so I have been super busy and had no time to sit down and write.. With that being said, today I will be sharing my January favorites with you guys! These are just the products I found myself reaching for the most in the month of January! Hope you all enjoy!!
The first thing on my list of faves is my Foreo Luna 2. This one says it is for “combination skin to deeply cleanse and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for radiant, firm, youth-looking skin.” I haven’t really seen a difference in that aspect, BUT it does make a difference in removing my makeup, and the way my face feels after cleansing. I have had this for almost two years, but have just now started using it again after a period of about five months. I really love mine and recommend trying it out if you haven’t already! The next item that I loved in January, is the Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion. I use this mainly at night after a more intense routine, when I use masks, medicine, face wash, and all of that good stuff. It is really great for sensitive skin and always soothes my face after my routine. Just a little bit of this product goes a really long way, I only need a pea sized amount for my entire face. This my favorite “night time” moisturizer at the moment! Now, I have Amy Head eyeshadow in the shade Cupcake. I use this shadow mainly as a base for my more taupe/brown shadows. In the pan, it looks a lot more sparkly than it actually is. When I apply it to my eyes, the sparkle doesn’t show up at all. This is just something that I have been doing recently in my everyday routine. Now, I have this Ulta Complete Eye palette in Indie. Even though I do not shop at Ulta anymore, I still really like this little palette! As you can see, it has some great neutral shades in it. I’m not a huge fan of the bottom right color, but it was a freebie so I can’t really complain. I have really enjoyed using the top two in my everyday routine! It is the perfect size for traveling, too, as it takes up little to no room in a bag. I have been really pleased with this product! This is the Physician’s Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls in Translucent Pearl. The way I have been using this product is for a cheek highlight at school/ in my every day makeup routine when I want a subtle glow. If you’re looking for an intense highlight, this is not your guy, but I have found it to be really great for a natural day!Still on the subject of eyes, this is the Esteé Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in the shade Slate. This is probably my third or fourth one in this shade. It is the perfect charcoal gray eyeliner. Esteé Lauder is my favorite pencil eyeliners that I have tried. They aren’t super dry or hard to apply, and I actually really enjoy using them! If you guys have any other pencil eyeliners-or just eyeliners in general- that you love, please let me know in the comments below! I’d love to try your favorites out!The last “eye product” (not really but kinda) I have for this month is this Amy Head Round Precision Brush. I have recently been using this to apply my inner corner and brow bone highlight. It also works really well for gel liner. The eye brushes are my favorite from Amy Head, they are the only ones that haven’t shed on me, for some reason. I really recommend trying out their brushes!
Lastly, I have NARS Super Orgasm blush! I have just gotten back into this blush again, because I had been using a warmer Amy Head blush for fall and winter. (You can see my comments about the Amy Head blush in my November Favorites.) BUT, I have really gotten a lot of compliments about my blush when wearing this one! It is not as glittery as it looks in the picture. It usually falls out when I tap my brush before applying. I am so in love with this right now!

Well, y’all, that’s it for my January Favorites post! Thanks so much for reading! Please let me know in the comments below if you have used any of these products, and what your favorites were this last month!

Favorite Products in 2015!

Good evening everybody! So, I have been trying to get this post out for weeks, and yes, it is really late to be doing this considering January is almost over.. But, I still wanted to share my most used, favorite products in 2015! Without further ado…Here is my really, super long favorites post!

*Disclaimer* you are likely to see the words “completely obsessed, so in love, amazing, awesome, favorite, definitely, etc. over and over again. The first product I want to talk about is the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I have had this primer since June and I am still so in love with it! It smooths out the skin, reducing the size of my pores, and keeps my foundation in place all day. Definitely my favorite primer that I used in 2015.The next product on my list is the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I am so picky about foundations, and I am really into this one! The only “negative” thing about this is, when I use it with a Beauty Blender, my face can look a little rutty. However, it goes on completely flawless with my Morphe M439 brush. It is awesome for oily, sensitive skin. Love love love this foundation! Now, I have the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Coverage Concealer. This is my holy grail concealer! I cannot rave enough about how awesome it is. I have not tried a concealer that is as nice as this one. I never need to touch up after using this, and it doesn’t crease or get cakey throughout the day. I just love this so much!Next, is the Beauty Blender. I think it goes without saying why this is a favorite. I use it with my concealer and to set my face. I just love the way my makeup looks when I use it. Really recommend this over just a regular sponge or a concealer brush! img_4404This is an Estée Lauder blush palette that I fell in love with this fall. As you can see, I really like the top left, Bronze Goddess, for winter and fall! It’s technically a blush, but it is so brown that I use it more as a bronzer. It does have a tiny bit of a pink undertone, so I use it by itself without a blush. This is probably my favorite Estée Lauder product ever! This is my absolute FAVORITE Morphe brush that I have, the Morphe E4. The Elite collection is SO bomb. I absolutely love this brush for bronzing the face, and it is also really great for blush. If I get more Morphe brushes in the future, I will only buy from the Elite collection, because I have found the others don’t work as well, for me. This one feels so luxurious and is really great quality for the price! Now, to the eyes.. This is the Lisa Perry Estée Lauder palette that I also really enjoyed in 2015. I really like all of these shades. I have the first pale, shimmery one, Ivory Slipper, in the full size container that I have actually hit pan on, because I used it like every day for half of the year. Provocative Plum, the last purple shade, is also a favorite of mine! I feel like the Estée Lauder eyeshadows get really overlooked and forgotten about because it’s very rare that a Beauty Blogger talks about them. They are super pigmented, but with that comes some fallout, but it’s nothing that can’t be easily fixed. My favorite high-end mascara, right now is the Benefit They’re Real Mascara! I can definitely tell a difference in my lashes when I have this on as compared to the Urban Decay Perversion mascara. The wand was a little intimidating at first, but it quickly became a favorite! The Maybelline Turbo Volum’ Express Mascara is my favorite drugstore mascara! Unlike most of the drugstore mascaras I have tried, this does not get my lashes too wet, and ultimately make them droopy. I have really enjoyed this, all thanks to my Big for telling me to try it!img_4398Now, we have the Anastasia Brow Wiz. This little beaut has completely changed my eyebrow game. I will never go back to what I was doing before. However, I may try out the rest of her brow products just to see if I could ever like anything better than this. I absolutely love this thing!!! Definitely the best in the business!img_4396Next I have the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel. This is actually my second one to go through, and I need a third because I am almost out AGAIN. This thing is like glue for the brows. It keeps them in place where I want them all day and night, and I just can’t get enough. Definitely a must-have! I think I have been in love with this product since the day I saw it… This is the Becca + Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector- Champagne Pop. You can tell, I have used this thing a LOT this year. It is definitely my favorite highlight of the year…possibly ever. Champagne Pop is BEYOND gorgeous! So glad Becca decided to make it permanent!THIS IS BAE!! I am so so so SO in love with the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick in the shade Melted Fig. I usually don’t go for purple lips because they scare me, and I never think I can pull it off.. However, this completely changed my view on purple lips. It is a gorgeous purpley, mauvey shade. I am so obsessed with this lipstick and am anxious to get more. This takes the cake for my absolute favorite product in 2015.This is another Estée Lauder product that I really enjoyed this year. With going to Ole Miss, and red lips at football games pretty much being a requirement, I have gone through lipstick after lipstick trying to find my perfect shade and this has gotten pretty dang close! This is the Estée Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Scarlet Siren. I really love this lipstick. It stays on through tailgating, eating, drinking, screaming at the games, and when I get home, it’s STILL on. It is super creamy, but can bleed out of line if you’re not careful. Using a good liner with this product is definitely a must, or it will bleed out real quick. Still, I really recommend trying out their lipsticks. So good! Now, I have the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray! I bought this product after watching a Jaclyn Hill video where she used the Chill Setting Spray, and decided to get this since I’m already a little oily and don’t want a dewey look. It really does make a difference in the longevity of my makeup and keeps it looking fresh all day. I would definitely recommend this for anybody who is oily because it really makes my makeup stick!
This is the L’Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream in the Original Scent. I really like this product for the winter because in the Mississippi cold, my hands can get really dry at night. I use a pea size drop of this, and it makes my hands feel so much better and moisturized. I received this as a gift in 2014 and I still have almost a full tube left. I gave a few of these as Christmas gifts this year because I love it so dang much. img_4392This is actually a gift I received for Christmas, from my sister-in-law. Her friend makes a bunch of all-natural soaps, scrubs, and other bath products. It is a Brown Sugar Scrub and yes, you guessed it, I am COMPLETELY OBSESSED. I have seen such a difference in my skin from using this and some of her soaps. I cannot imagine a day when I go back to that store-bought crap. I am so in love with her bath products.Mmmkay… Last, but definitely not least, I have the Clean and Clear Night Relaxing Deep Cleaning Face Wash. I use this every night in my skincare routine, and I love how good and clean my face feels after. It doesn’t dry out my skin and make my face really tight like some (which is really bad for your skin), but it makes my face feel so clean without damaging my skin. I used this a couple of years ago, but re-bought it again last year and re-fell in love with it. Definitely my favorite drug store face wash, as of now!

Well, guys, that’s it for my extremely long favorites of 2015! If you made it all the way through, I give you props. I hope you enjoyed this post! Again, I’m so sorry it took me so long to get this out.

Christmas List 2015!

These are some of our Byers Choice carolers. Aren’t they fun?!

So guys….. I have had like NO time to sit down and really commit to a post with finals, job applications, and the just craziness of the holidays. I am so sorry and promise to get on a regular schedule after the season.

Even though this is super late, I still wanted to share a few things on my Christmas list for 2015! I haven’t written out a list in I don’t know how long. I usually just let Santa bring me whatever he thinks I would like. (Yes, I am 20 years old and still believe in Santa Clause.) However, this year I do have things that I would really love to open up on Christmas morning…

These are more practical items, as I’m not one to actually use the super bright palettes like the Kat Von D-Mi Vida Loca palette. Sorry, but people around here would think I had lost my mind if I actually used the shades in that palette. It’s beautiful, but not for small town, Mississippi. So, here is my wish list for 2015! It’s kind of lengthy, so bear with me.First on my list is a makeup organizer! I’m really loving this mirrored one from potterybarn.com! It’s super glam and would look so pretty on my bathroom vanity.

Next on my list is this Large Brush Roll by MAC! I’m using a cloth one now and I’m so over it getting dirty. I love that this has a zippered pouch and two open pouches. It would be so great with all of the traveling I do between school and home.

I have one brush on my list and it is the MAC 135 Large Powder Brush. I don’t actually own any MAC brushes, but I have heard this is a really bomb brush. So, I definitely want to add this to my collection!

Now, I have the Makeup Geek Starter Kit and Z-Palette bundle. I’ve been DYING to try out the Makeup Geek shadows and this seems like the perfect palette for that. It has 9 shadows, consisting of: Cocoa Bear, Mocha, Glamorous, Creme Brûlée, Shimma Shimma, Drama Queen, Prom Night, Unexpected, and Corrupt! These shadows are just so beautiful and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they end up in my stocking!

Next is the GlamGlow Glamtastic Facial Set! I recently used a sample of the blue one from Sephora and I’m obsessed with the way my skin looked and felt after using it just once! I really want to try the other ones to see which one best suits me. It’s kind of pricey which is why I haven’t gone out and bought it already, so why not let Santa pay for it instead, right?

Next, I have the Philosophy Purity Cleanse, Refine, and Renew Kit! I have actually never used any of the Philosophy products, but have heard great things and am itching to get my hands on them.. Especially the cleanser. I have yet to find a cleanser that doesn’t burn my face like crazy.. I’ve been told this one is great for sensitive skin, so I’m hoping it works!

Now, I have the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. I absolutely love this bronzer!!! I received a sample of this in my birthday gift from Sephora and just recently got around to using it. It is so pretty and doesn’t turn orange on my skin like some of them do. I just really need this in my life and will be getting my hands on it one way or another!

This is the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I’ve never really used a setting powder and am noticing some breakup in my foundation, so I’m definitely going to need this in my life ASAP.

Okay, this definitely isn’t the last makeup product I want to get my hands on, but I’m making it the last one for this post. Because my makeup wishlist goes on forever. This is the Becca Mineral Blush in Flowerchild. I first discovered this product on the Becca Instagram and I just think it is so beautiful. My eyes light up every time I see this and I just HAVE to get it!

Alright, this is not actually on my list, I just had to share. I’m completely obsessed with this new David Yurman bracelet! I just think it’s so neat and different from his other pieces. I also really like the all black matte one. It isn’t very practical, but I definitely wouldn’t mind if someone just really wanted to get this for me… (Wink, wink)

I also want a few of the Makeup Geek pigment shadows, Kat Von D liquid lipsticks and some other lip products. If you want to know which ones I have my eyes on, let me know and I’ll do another post about them!

Have you tried any of these products? Are they on your Wish List? Drop me a comment down below, I’d love to hear what’s on your list!

November Favorites | 2015

Hey everyone! It is finally December!! I absolutely love this time of year. Makes me wish I was in the mountains with a warm chocolate chip cookie, hot chocolate, and a pair of skis… ugh, I miss it.

These products are some that I just really fell in love with and used a LOT in November. I had planned to post this sooner, but with a sick puppy and all of the chaos from Thanksgiving, I haven’t had much time. Hope you enjoy!

  1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash- Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub. I have been using this since Halloween and it is seriously one of the best drugstore face washes I have ever used. It kind of dries me out (since I’m more normal/combination, it doesn’t bother me that much) but I use my Mario Badescu moisturizer to balance it out.
  2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. So, I have never been a huge fan of filling in my brows. I always felt like they looked too fake every time I tried, so I haven’t done it since high school. Until I got this pencil. This thing has completely changed the way I feel about filling in my brows. I am SO in love with the Anastasia brow products!
  3. Becca + Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop. My gosh I love this highlight so much! It is so gorgeous on the apples of the cheeks, Cupid’s bow, tip of the nose, inner corner highlight, everywhere! Just beautiful.
  4. Maybelline Turbo Volum’ Express Mascara. I haven’t used a drugstore mascara in a little over a year, but my Big introduced this to me in October, and I’ve used it almost every day since. I have trouble with my lashes drooping with some drugstore mascaras and they don’t with this one! (Finally!!)
  5. Estée Lauder Resilience Lift Moisturizer. I used Estée Lauder for so long that I got tired of it and stopped buying. I started back with their toner and received this as a sample. It’s big enough that I’ve been using it everyday for over a month and I’m not even close to using it all. Some moisturizers tend to make me really oily and gross, but this is really light and I just love it.
  6. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. This is definitely my holy grail concealer. It covers my dark circles and doesn’t feel thick under my eyes (hence the term weightless.) My favorite concealer as of now, hands down!
  7. Amy Head Powder Blush- Fresh & Lovely. I have just recently gotten back into using this blush. I got it two years ago but I got really pale right after buying and it started turning me orange. It’s somehow made it back into my day time routine when I’m just out running errands or shopping.
  8. Hydrogen Peroxide. This is going to sound completely ridiculous, but hear me out. You know the days when you wake up with those blemishes that hurt like crazy and the only thing you can do is just wait it out? All you have to do is put a little bit of Hydrogen Peroxide on a cotton ball and put it on the blemish. One to two days later, it will be gone. Thank you Pinterest for informing me of this method!

Well, that is it for my November favorites! Feel free to leave me a comment below if you’ve used any of these products. I’d love to hear your favorites, too!

Top 5 MAC Blushes & Giveaway!

Yes please!!

nerdylibrariangirl

top five MAC blushes for fair skin
Hey there! I’m back. Its been a crazy busy month with work and I’ve had very little time for anything, especially blogging. The fall is the busiest time of the year for me. I thought I’d get back in the swing of things with a giveaway! I absolutely love MAC blushes and I thought I’d share my favourite MAC blushes for fair skin and at the end of my post I’ll reveal which of those 5 blushes I will be giving away to a subscriber!

In no particular order, let’s start with Cubic.

MAC Cubic MAC Cubic

Cubic is a satin finish. MAC’s description is “soft muted pink”. This was my first ever MAC blush and it was picked out for me by the SA. Its one of those blushes that doesn’t wow you in the pan, but its a very subtle, natural looking, neutral blush for fair skin. This one…
